On the podium
Colin Oettle is music director of Vari Musicisti in New York, where he leads both operatic and instrumental performances throughout the year. Vari Musicisti recently performed Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 in B-flat, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 in A major “Italian,” and Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor. He also led concert productions of Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne and, later, a staged version of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in collaboration with Opera Theater of Montclair.
Mr. Oettle received his Master of Music in Performance from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where he studied with eminent Australian conductor Kynan Johns and served as assistant conductor of Rutgers Symphony Orchestra and Rutgers Sinfonia. Mr. Oettle has also performed in masterclasses and workshops where he worked with distinguished conductors including Kenneth Kiesler and Gustav Meier.
